Artist Statement

Amino acids landed on this planet hurdling through space and time and aggregated - coding the emergence of the only life in the universe yet confirmed.  And while the Earth's cooling strata offered a platform for the development of life on Earth, they also cataloged life as punctuated windows to the past.

I find respite in the observation and understanding of environmental processes.  I have undertaken a serious study of environmental and energy policy and law.  While practicing law as a nuclear waste attorney, I focused on climate, geology and groundwater modeling.  However, my greatest challenges are those I have handled on canvas.

These field studies en plein air examine our common heritage as found in the landscape.  This work encourages the viewer to celebrate simplicity of form informed by an understanding of complex natural systems.
